Most people's plan is to get experience at a regional, then move on to a major. Remember, Custer had a plan too. Pay rates are a lot more difficult to take away than a bonus. Let's get them as high as possible.
I agree we need to make this the best and highest paid as 62% of us arnt part of the chosen ones! So we need better rules and pay if they wanna keep us here.

I was in the same boat, no signing bonus, worked myself hard for probably 7 of the 12 months on year 1 pay, excluding a referral bonus I just broke 70K.

You mean 40% aren't chosen! Your part of the minority.
No, they don't want you to stay more than a few years. Up grade, fly 2 years and go away. Do you think they want you to spend your career
there? Look what happened to Comair, too expensive and too demanding.

Right now people are upgrading with the FAR 1,000 and company mins are being reduced to 300 company. And a descent amount of (30?) went unfilled on the last bid.

So your saying that they took 60% of the guys from the SSP. I think your numbers are pretty far off! According to the last FOU the total for the year with a CJO is 45%

Well, feel free to go, we will move up more quickly.

J/K, no we need you. And that is why I personally would love to see the bonuses go away and prefer a pay hike across the board, equal to what we are making today, or higher (preferably, and by the time it happens, possible, I think).

I mean, bonuses are nice, but who the heck wants to take a pay cut their second year? And what pilot already on property wants to see a new hire making $5-20K more than they did just a few months or years ago? Give us a pay rate that makes us competitive, preferably industry-leading, like $73 an hour for a FYFO and $103 for a FYCA. Then, if you want to be able to affect hiring, authorize a bonus on top of that basic pay rate for all.

Will it happen? Probably not. Once can dream. But I know for DARN sure those above us will never just give it to us unless we ask for it.

The unfilled amount wasn't because people weren't qualified, they were because the company chose to not fill them, for what its worth.
