I just wonder what Skywest is getting out of this? They usually come out on top

The way I read it, they didn't want to run out the remaing useful life on the engines and airframes so they will accelerate parking them which all total added up to a credit which required Bombardier to pay SKY INC for that remaing value.

It basically just sounds like the actual nuts and bolts of how Skywest will be flying the ASA lift, with their own airplanes instead of leased ones, which they believe allows for higher profit margins.

Someone has to cover all that flying??? Don't think SkyWest can cover all of it. Maybe 10-15 airplanes worth.. but maybe most of the routes get upgaged to a 717..

That'd be my guess but RDU is going up to over 200 daily departures for Delta (all Delta flying, not just Endeavor) for 2017. They are picking a fight with American in RDU and sounds like one is going to start once CLT finishes the terminal expansion. Delta will have 14 gates when it's done there. So there are some other places still in play for now. Word is our management knows that "Everything New York" really is hurting our hiring efforts and the day Delta finally makes a decision on our new Southeast base, it will be advertised far and wide that moment.

Yup SkyWest has been poaching all the "desirable" airframes from ExpressJet while allowing them to bleed pilots. This also allows SkyWest to show decent growth and be the only player in most of its Western bases. This coupled with getting the E170 SJS kids with the American contract.... so they've been able to hire for needs without big pay increases. That won't last forever but has delayed their financial squeeze.

I heard a couple of weeks ago that RDU and CVG were out of the running. Any rumor to this truth?

CVG unfortunately is out, MCO hasn't been looked at, and RDU, ATL are the finalists but another option could present itself before a final announcement is made... that's what I was told.

That sucks. CVG is an awesome airport, with lots of good space for crews.

70+ for January. Yep, NYC flying is really hurting recruiting...

Whatever happens, it's all good. Proud to be a part of the team!
