And they take most regional pilots who interview. We've only been hiring for a couple/few years and DL has taken what, 700ish EDV pilots? All while attrition to OAL is 1/10th that number? That's probably by far the single largest group unless you combine all military put together, and even then its competitive. Compared to any other regional its probably off the charts.

I'd like to see the ridiculous second day stuff go away though. Lots of good people get burned by that and IMO there is no gain with it. But as for recruiting pilots, they will have no problem if they offer near or above industry leading pay coupled with a pref interview program that takes 700 pilots from a 1700 pilot airline every 2-3 years. Even if there were to be a flow its doubtful the numbers would exceed that.

On the surface it seems like the overall success rate is close to 2/3, especially if you back out the initial wave of unsuccessful applicants that were 100% the result of poorly advertised local union braggadocio over what the program even was in the first place. Now that everyone knows you have to takeout seriously the success rate will probably creep up even higher.

In any case I wouldn't wait for a flow. IMO that's not happening anytime in the next few years at least.
Pilots are going to AA wo airlines because of the flow period! Our class numbers have dropped off significantly as a direct result of their competitive pay and flow.

Stuff is changing.
Exactly, it'll be interesting for sure. The "that's the way we've always done it", must change with the times.

Anyone have any guess as to the number of new hires and upgrades mgt wants in 2017?

That's fine, but IMO its not going to change DL's no flow policy. And no, DL isn't going into mass cancellation mode because they bwon'thave a flow. They're confident they'll get the pilots they need, and if they don't they'll do other things long before they agree to a straight flow.

Lol, you're funny. I'm not sure where your confidence is coming from? The surplus of pilots is decreasing in all sectors while retirements are increasing rapidly year by year. The so called surplus you see now is the result of the lack of hiring at the major level this last decade, and sooner or later that surplus will diminish. A flow or rather a lack of a flow seems like more of a personal issue with you and a couple of others on here. When I Jumpseat I don't feel the same sentiments from the majority of your peers that I meet.

Please join them and move on. Sick of your constant drivel, dude. Get back in line and wait 5-7 years for your call to the show. I'll be at Delta is half that time...and I just started a few weeks ago. I've enjoyed the opportunities this company has afforded me in my short time here. Major change from the world I was in.

We can go back and forth with this forever, as we have. But I'm thinking delta will have an issue in say 2 years or so when non-military peeps shy away from them

What are you paid during initial training? Are hotels single occupancy? Rental car? What about re-current training?

-Pay is min guarantee, so $30 at 75 hours a month.
-Single occupancy hotel
-No car, but you don't need one. Shuttle is provided to/from HQ and you get positive space travel home every weekend.
-Re-current is single occupancy and I believe paid at 4 hours a day.
