Now go back and fly Delta planes while you lose seniority at Delta.
There's a mix of people that have jumped to majors other than Delta. There are some that received the thanks but don't come back from Delta. There are some that are in the Delta pool and decide that a year or more accruing seniority at another major is better than sitting in the pool waiting for Delta. And there are some that simply don't want to go to Delta. I know, weird right? Either way, there are many over at Delta that are against a flow if for nothing more "its the way we've always done it. Or it's a right of passage". Maybe someday they'll step out of the stone ages in this regard. But as Gloopy pointed out, they don't need to do it at this time. It seems to me that Delta has passed on some very good pilots. But I'm also not privy to their application package either

It could be. Much like their plans for Minnie and Detroit. If you read the Skywest boards they claim they'll be getting more block hours from Delta in both of these bases? However, if you ask upper management what their plans are? All they will tell you is they're letting these bases shrink via attrition. I also have asked several times as to the the amount of shrinkage, but I cannot get an answer. All of these hints of airplanes, new bases, staffing uncertainty in Detroit and Minnie should be taken lightly until a formal announcement is made . It could be that speaking the truth might derail their hiring efforts and that's reason for the smoke screen.

I wonder if the act of shrinking our desirable bases will lead to another exodus to AA WO.

Maybe, but with 1 month reserve and line #5 ish, JFK seems pretty desirable in a way.

There is nothing desirable about JFK for someone that already packed up and moved to DTW...

So new-hires are mostly getting JFK now? -900?
what about captain upgrades? how long is reserve running?
considering a regional-regional lateral move; holding a line means decent QOL, but when it's the lowest paying regional, can't afford to do much on those days off (lol)

Can confirm. If the DTW base disappeared then so would I. The only way I would commute to NYC is if we got NRPS tickets for work and a monthly cost of living stipend.

And a hotel anytime we had to go in the day before or come out the morning after.... basically we'd have to start virtual basing.

DTW and MSP are not going anywhere. Yes right now the growth is in NYC., but I think that the shrinkage of MSP due to attrition is done and DTW is almost done. We are the highest paid regional and everyone is acting like the sky is falling... our bases aren't going anywhere...
