I interviewed recently and had a captain in recruitment tell all of us interviewing that the -200's won't be around long in NY, but he said he wasn't sure what DL had in mind as a replacement. It seems that everyone feels the 200's won't be around in NY in the future.

Upgrades should continue. With SSP and DGI we will continually see folks leaving for DL, not to mention other airlines as well.

I'm really eager about getting start. From everything I've seen, this is a classy shop. As good as advertised from what my buddy told me. Excited to join the team!

Latest rumor with actual costing is the Idea of a southern base. With efb's in Q1 17' you have nyc co-domicile, no more bonus and instead a rate hike, then dual qual, and bases expanding to at least 1 south of the sweet tea (mason-Dixon) line for both operations and recruiting. The DL TA holds the scope on RJ's and it would become a swap out from other carriers' ASA's for more here. Will it happen, I think not, but it's being researched. Better situation is yet another LOA addressing survey issues and new pay rates for all starting Jan 1, 2017 to meet and exceed the current retiention bonus.

The -200's and each of the bases that they operate will remain beyond summer 2017 pending a massive oil spike above $100 (sub $50 currently) or devastating AD. Said fleet planner (any of em) would now say the same with what has been said from DL and costed/budgeted. Things change all the time. It was some -200's, no -200's, then -700's, then just -900's, then 700/900, then 200/700/900, then 900/170-175, then 200/900, but only for a little while, then -900/-700, then 2/7/9, then "hell, I'm confused", O hello present day.

Definitely a good thing with a new LOA and a Jan 1st date makes sense. I'm curious why the atl base seems unlikely for you though. Apparently asa shut down mx there this month and they seem to be having plenty of trouble attracting new hires which can quickly turn into a mass exodus like what is currently starting at awac and like 2014 was here. Seems like we are in a perfect position as DL's new poster child to swoop in and recover that lift.

I never said ATL was unlikely. What I said was a southern base is being discussed. What will happen, if anything, is still a discussion and cost analysis being conducted. We did this before with cvg and rdu with an analysis of the numbers didn't make sense. It doesn't have to be a hub, but southern bases for a regional can be just focus cities. It's all about the numbers. Personally, I don't expect any changes in the near future. Many folks want a southern base in theory, but if their aren't enough flights for commuters, mx, or the operation in terms of flights, in no particular order, it's pointless.

A 2 year difference in class dates is worth how many numbers at DL? That was the difference (personally) between the original agreement, the drain unloading as a CA at signing, and then the FO SSP. Those who were FO's at signing raised the 2 year difference to 2.5 years and greater. Can't complain due to my own circumstance as the timing is actually a blessing, but for the 90+% of others, it raises the frustration.
In the end, some will claim lessons learned, others bailed, some are happy, others are upset. If that's not the definition of "life happens beyond your control", I can't define it in the airline world. In the game of life, everything happens for a reason, with positives and negatives along the way. If one complains, I guarantee it can be worse.. you aren't 6 feet under. It's easy to look back and see a path for the better. In the end, everyone has the same fate. Enjoy what you have and make the best of opportunities. It's easy to blame someone, but harder to look back and find where you could have done something "easy" to be in a better position. Luck is great, but for most it's a drive to a finish line and sometimes you hit the wall approaching the finish line.
Feel free to knock my assumptions and thoughts. Until you have been taken from the top of the stack to hoping to live, you won't have the words to quote. Take your skill set, make an end goal, and execute a plan. Along the way, plenty of obstacles beyond your control will show up. Make the best of each and every opportunity in your grasp.
