Ok Let me understand this: A) Because I wear a hat I will not be invited to the Kool Kids Table, never much liked the Kool Kids. B) Wearing a hat undermines our contract. Ummm Ok so what should the value of a hat be? A $40/hour raise?, days off? The value of our hat policy is choice. Even if 100% of the pilot group chooses to wear a hat "The Man" does not score a win because we have the choice to not wear a hat and no one cares except the Kool Kids mocking those of us who chose to wear a hat.
Back on track: did anyone change their bid to move to NYC for 16-03?

I wear mine maybe half the time...it's more annoying to keep track of than anything. But I think it does look professional. No one has ever said anything to me about it one way or the other. If you wear it cool, if not awesome. Who cares, it's just a hat. You've got hat wearing tools and no hat wearing tools. Just don't be a tool and then the hat doesn't matter. You'd think there are more important issues than hats at hand.
And nope, I'm not trying to get to NYC hoping for secondary msp vacancy on 16-03 though.

Last hat question. As a new hire are you "Required" to order a hat when you order all of your uniform stuff? Especially since you are paying for the 50% of your initial uniform cost. Hat can be pretty pricy from what I remember from G7 days. I'd say $125-$175 range.

You are not required to buy one. I think the full price was around $75 although my memory is known to be a bit crap. Of course Tom comes in and does his spiel and he sent us off with "wear the hat!" but it's not required.

Here's next month's TDY offerings:
Pilots allowed to bid for TDY:
Two (2) Captains from JFK 200 CA
Six (6) First Officers from JFK 200 FO
Sixteen (16) Captains from DTW 900 CA
Twenty Two (22) Captains from JFK 900 CA
Estimated Number of Pilots eligible to be awarded TDY:
Two (2) Captains to MSP 200 CA
Six (6) First Officers to MSP 200 FO
Sixteen (16) Captains to MSP 900 CA
Twenty Two (22) Captains to LGA 900 CA
The 900 Captain seat is way out of skew at the moment. Yet 16-02 added captains INTO DTW and now 16-03 is adding MORE captains INTO JFK, what's up with that? I suppose it's a pretty good deal for commuters, but makes a mess of monthly bidding expectations.

It isn't about being cool, you are the one who brought that up - that hang up is your own, not other people who supposedly mock you. I've heard the hat has come up in negotiations in the past, if 100% of the pilot group wore a hat then it couldn't be used as a negotiating item. The reason they want pilots to wear hats is so everyone looks like a Delta pilot and it makes it even more difficult to tell Delta from Endeavor. I'd say the hat is worth the Delta contract or better - $40 hour raise would probably about do it.
