block30 yeah I was referring to LGA and JFK. Rumor mill states that it's because of numerous meltdowns the last six weeks of so they want to beef up reserve levels. This month I am a senior reserve (longevity 4 1/2 years). I thought with 15-03 and new hires I could hold a solid line next month since historically we run minimal reserves during the summer as there is a lot of flying to cover. Disappointing when I see I am likely still a senior reserve next month according to the mock award. To add insult to injury, premium pay out of JFK was edited for the rest of July....no longer is it 150% for the rest of the month in JFK. So with more reserves there will be less flying for each reserve, less premium open time trips, and the poor junior line holders are going to get loaded up (though I'll gladly take that over more reserve just to have a change of pace). Other bases I could see lines being held quickly....I could hold a line in DTW and not JFK which is mind boggling to me. As we get into winter months I expect reserve levels to further increase in NYC which is seasonally expected. That just means more getting oh so close to a line only to be so narrowly denied! lol

So this is how I felt when I read your super classy name-calling post. Says a lot about your character but I don't care about you or your character or what you think.
Then I realized I am the one who got out after 7 years (as an FO) from the hole that Pinnacle was, upgraded at my new airline and am in the top 20% of the seniority list, getting 18 days off, living in base, and making more money than any FO there, AND flying a better airplane with a great group of pilots. You might think I'm a tool along with your bitter TallTurkey friend too but deep down inside you're just a little jealous of me.
BTW, who says you're allowed to hand out the "Biggest anti-endeavor Tool" award? I am flattered that I'm #1. Sorry ShyGuy, you better step up your game!

I feel ya. I would imagine with the new hire pipepline even if the reserve levels go up, you'll still be holding a line soon. My life is getting better month by month. Sorry it ain't happnenin' for you yet! 'Least you'll get a big check in September to turn the frown upside down??
Arvik, keep in mind we didn't hire between 2012 and 2014. Only a few pilots behind me there are 2014 hires so within a month of new hires coming in our reserve time at JFK will go from 4 years to 1 year....give it a few more months and it'll get even shorter. The other bases have fewer reserve lines with relatively unchanged reserve levels plus maybe a higher number of new hires trickling in. If I were a 200 pilot I'd be a line holder in DTW and maybe MSP. As a 900 guy I could hold lines at LGA and DTW. I am reserve based on seniority at MSP and JFK. I am hoping I won't be reserve in JFK much longer! But I hope you can see how different bases can have widely varying reserve times coupled with that we didn't hire for two years. A new hire today in JFK shouldn't see more than a year of reserve and that's on the conservative side if things keep up the way they are.

Depending on the base, I'm seeing FOs get lines their first to second bidding month...I guess I haven't looked at JFK or LGA in a while (what I assume PA28 is referring to.)
While we're talking about it, I'm curious what Skywest runs reserve levels at. I talked to an FO there that made it sound like they run really thin on reserves, which yeah, is nice for the pilot group. And don't know if they really incentivize picking up open time??? It would be a nice selling point to potential new hires if we were thinner on reserves and offered more consistent 200% pick ups...but maybe that is pie in the sky thinking. Even one 200% pick up day was noticeable in the paycheck and made my wife really happy.
And yes, I can understand that the captains are mad about the Bloch award. What's the countdown til that is over? Less than a year?
