P1 etc are the reserve periods.
P1: 0500-1900
P2: 1000-2359
P3: Not sure exactly, I think 1900-2359
Reserve days can vary, some folks like to split them up and have. 3 on/1 off schedule of sorts. You can also allow them to schedule six on in a row to try and get more days off in a row. 11 days off is what you can expect.

The reserve thresholds are redonkulous. My theory is..high reserves will cover other airline flying plus ours. Absolutely zero reason to have that many reserves. Some days the minim thresholds are 10-14 for one base!!!!! what?
ALPA needs to question these reserve thresholds. I'm calling BS
Tell your reps, I do.
Maybe they can negotiate something.

10-14 would be nice. Several positions they want 16-18 every day of May.
When we check for reserve availability it gives
green - more than enough reserves
black - just enough
red - low reserves
We can't trade unless its green because they don't have the reserves to cover your dropped trip. "Quote"

Likewise, I was trying to utilize Max Line Range as well, didn't get it. Was able to play with it a bit in open time to get a little more credit, but not like I've done in March/April (where I credited over 140 each month).
I didn't even bid for specific days off, just for days off in general and for credit.

[QUOTE=Jamis81;2112838]Well that's a bit overkill. This is what the problem is. ALPA needs to discuss the reason for so many reserves. I would like to know the facts. If the company would reinforce long call, and limit the airport ready reserve employees might consider sticking around. I know first hand that ready reserve is a big part why flight attendants and pilots seek employment elsewhere. Ready reserve is absolutely out of hand.

Let people use their sick time with at least a two week notice and I bet they only need half the reserves as it would most likely be picked up in open time.
