5000 qualified applicants, although that number is down from a little over 11,000 two years ago. So in 2020 the shortage should start to really hurt the regionals. There will never be a shortage at mainline.

So that's not 5,000 pilots in the pool just waiting for class dates? That's just applicants? Or by "qualified" do you mean they've passed the interview? Thanks

5000 with active applications that they can choose to interview.
The actual pool of CJO holders is shrinking, now that they have more sims up and running.

Generally speaking if your sim partner needs a extra MV sim lesson (or any lesson in general) will that put one of my checking events (MV validation or LOE) behind schedule?

Possibly, same with illness or family emergency. Partner could be replaced with RSV pilot if their available. Its best to work hard with your partner and poster fly in the hotel room as a crew.

Ask your instructor then. Each case is probably handled different.

Best part of flowing is that I can hope to look like this and have these flight attendants admiring me.
