They both have their days of good and bad. Right now a lot of trips are not commutable on either end. I think JFK MIGHT have a bit more in the way of commutability, but depending on where you live there may be more commuting options to LGA. In other words, know the various ways to get between the two as a commuter. As for crew lounges, JFK has better facilities. Both can equally go to hell when weather is involved. Anyone else want to chime in also as to how they are different?

Thanks! I'm excited to be here. I think I'll stick to the -200 for the time being and see what happens in the near future with all the new pilots coming on. Hopefully they get more -200 flying and more new hires under me and I can get of reserve a little sooner than if I were to switch to the -900. Those extra 26 seats and $2 an hour in year three are pretty tempting though... :-D

And you can spin that how you want... Why the junior guys (new hires bidding for the first time...ehem), for full commutability and an extra day off in NYC (where the complaints seem to be) is beyond me. It's simple. Go online, fill out the form, high likelihood of the 4th off, plus other weekends, commute in day of, out last day in the am....if p3 last day you go home and are simply contactable for the next string... Meaning most of last day off plus as you should be home mid day a day prior. With some trips already reassigned to start. Beats the heck out of reserve. Day flying? Sure, that's an automatic 200% over guarantee. But no, nobody is interested. *hands in the air*
Not sure what is missing here. But hey, you can lead the horse to water, can't make it drink.

Neither are wonderful, but I've bounced been in both and what I've found is getting into and out of LGA is usually easier, but they have more trips that start at 5:30am-8am, so are essentially uncommutable on the front end. Also, when the weather turns bad LGA is quicker to cancel flights due to the runway configuration when JFK will still be operating. Crew room in LGA is horrible as well.
