My theory is they are trying to get more people to sign up for unpaid leave in order to have any sort of time off. They probably figure they have to pay us min. guarantee so they might as well use us as many days as possible. It is terrible for morale and, in my opinion, not the "right" thing to do for employees. That's my best guess as to the reasoning behind it, though. Also, good luck commuting if you don't live in base...

As of today, this is what we know about the May schedule:
· There is a 50% reduction in block hours versus plan in the May schedule.
· Low aircraft utilization in the May schedule.
o Two-class ~6.9 hours per day versus 10.8 hours per day in March 2020
o Single class ~ 5.0 hours per day versus 9.7 hours per day in March 2020
· The majority of line-holders will be awarded at or near minimum days off.
· There will be a reduction in flight frequency to existing markets, making long sits at outstations common.
· There will be a significant rise in deadheads (air and ground) to get crew members in position.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but does this make any sense!

Not justifying it. Cause it sucks. But my understanding is that there are fewer flights per day, leading to very unproductive lines. The solver still has to build as close a line to 75 as possible which means flying more days. They can't just stack more flying up per day if there aren't more flights. And the alternative would be putting the whole company on reserve.
which would make more sense. Especially LCR...instead of burning gas and hotel costs.
