Two weeks from now: people start going outside again.
Four weeks from now: the curve unflattens, and we're all told a) to do this again, either on a local/national voluntary/involuntary basis, or b) to suck it up for the sake of the economy.

In either scenario, if the curve unflattens, then we've done all this for nothing. It's not like people are building immunity while sitting at home doing nothing.

Of course, don't go visiting your parents/grandparents right now. I'm not saying this thing isn't serious. I'm critical of the approach, though.

I was too. But a look at actual symptoms of a mild case and considering how, unchecked, it will overwhelm our medical institutions has convinced me we are on the right track. Many will die. Many more would die If we didn’t flatten the curve.

Here’s the important part: by slowing it INITIALLY we are buying time to prepare. More ventilators can be produced. Consumables used by doctors and hospitals can be manufactured. It’s gonna be everywhere. Many many more will catch it. This pause and slow down can help us ultimately save lives.

The virus feeds on bodies...no bodies no virus. Shut her down for a month.

I can understand the logic behind that.

Are you sure about that? What happens if it flairs up again after a month? That could be an up and down cycle for much longer. Well at least until they find a vaccine. Unfortunately I fear that’s a ways off?

I’m definitely not sure but we can use South Korea and China as an example. When they didn’t isolate it went crazy. Especially in China. We are isolating in clusters.... I’m hopeful the short term pain gives us long term gains. One thing is for sure...our government is failing us. We knew this was coming and the lack of testing is really unfortunate.

Or you could take it head on like the Netherlands. Very bold.

We haven't isolated jack. People are still flying all over the country, partying at beaches, and running to the store to buy toilet paper.

It’s not just about buying time until a vaccine can be produced, this buys time to find better ways to treat the virus as well. We went from just throwing anything at the wall to see what will stick, to several promising avenues that may reduce the fatality rate amoung those who get it. I’d expect the fatality rate of those who get the virus in 6 months to be lower then those that get it now as we’ll at least have a better idea how to help the body fight off the attack. Given the percentage of the population expected to eventually encounter COVID19, buying time to produce better means of treatment will also save countless lives.

The sad and real of it is that we do work for Delta . Delta owns every penny of Endeavor . They own the planes, people , the crappers, paper clips and the operating certificate. Our MGT is just extension of assigned folks from Delta. No decisions about anything regarding Endeavor are made outside of Delta. We are as much a part of Delta as one can possibly be. We should have received some portion of profit sharing. But now it’s a mute point as Delta will not be profitable for a very long time . Endeavor will just be folded into mainline . Endeavor is just a name . It’s all Delta anyway , but the Endeavor name will soon disappear because of all this .

A drop in national income and corporate revenues will necessitate route, fare and cost structure flexibility to respond to a sensitive and gradual return of demand post recovery. The absolute last thing you want when you need flexibility is to bring labor further in house. This crisis unfortunately just breathed new life into the regional marketplace which had been in the throes of severe consolidation and in sourcing. 9E ain’t going anywhere unless the drop is so precipitous even 9E costs and overhead are too much to support.
