Now, that’s not all to complain, as I get that it’s the way the life is. But the statement was made that the intended use of the grid was to allow RSVs to drop, and pick up flying. That simply doesn’t happen.

And probably 80% of reserve stretch’s I don’t get used. 15% maybe used for a turn. 5% more than a turn. That tells me there are still too many pilots sitting reserve.
Those classes of 10 a week are barely entering the sim. Also, October schedules aren’t out yet... the mock doesn’t count.

My biggest gripe about reserve is the bucketing system. Leaving you to rot in the crashpad for a week, then using you for a turn on your last day to screw over your commute because you have a day left is ridiculous.
Same seat, we went down to 5 remaining reserves on Sept 3rd when an IROP struck. They need to overstaff the base so that they can recover from an IROP. Only way to prevent this overstaffed situation would be to ship in reserves from other bases in anticipation of IROPs... but that would cost money.

They are starting to buy new engines for the 200's, with an additional $800K in upgrades. I wonder how long these planes can go for?

Default Valid points

Valid about being on reserve flydiamond however, one could argue that the grid should always be green unless an irop occurs. The grid is to be able to not just drop and pick up but, to also drop and or swap days of rsv. Again, the grid stayed red for most of towop when we were overstaffed. Yes, the point about bringing other reserves in is valid. Tick the box on “reserve at other bases”, I think is what is says in PBS. They’ll have to pos space you and get you a hotel.

I think they are abusing their control and are using the grid against us. They’ll want something in return for any release of control of that grid but again, it goes against foundations of flight and core principles. I wonder if a call to the ethics hotline, on the website, would help?

Am I the only one who actually enjoys getting paid to sit at home in base on reserve?

Id rather be in a mediocre hotel, that’s at least clean, quiet and decent van service with stuff around it than a brand new holiday inn express that’s right next to train tracks and has nothing around it. When you get in to a hotel at 1130am-1pm. It’s nice to be able to get out and stretch your legs and find something to do than be stuck in your room all day because you’re in a warehouse park

I wish the company would just publish the IROP schedule with the bid pack, so I could bid around them.

Seriously, you do know that if it worked that way, folks would drop until the grid was red again, right?
