I've live in South East Michigan my whole life, I like the area. I can't speak for cost vs other placers as I've only lived in Michigan, but it's not outrageous. I have a place out in the country on acreage and pay about $1k/mo for it now. Before that I rented a trailer (manufactured home ) for $800/mo for a couple years. I started out in a small apartment for $425/mo and the last apartment I was in was right around $700/mo.

IMO The city of Detroit it self is a sht hole, I don't go down there unless I have to. There are a few places down town that are "ok" but I certainly wouldn't call it vibrant at all. However there are a lot of very nice suburbs surrounding the city, as well if you want to live in the country it's just minutes from DTW. I like that the summers don't get sweltering hot and being a boater Lake Saint Clair is a boaters paradise (well as much as it can be in a place that still has winter). Also if you like to camp there are a lot of very nice places in the state to do so. When I had my travel trailer I never left the state, there was always someplace interesting to go within a days drive here.

BTW The airport is not in the city, it's several miles south.

I got the bonus during training. Pro-rated from the start of training date. I started training first class in February and received 5K of the bonus mid May.

You guys get turns out trips out of different bases. I.e, NYC pilot doing stuff out west with like MSP turns and the like?

Yep it's a lot of that. The guy who pulled back into the gate last month in MSP was LGA based if I'm correct. I've also been seeing some TDY assignments on the 900 too.

Have some kind of bill with you and his name on it, or even the lease. Just some kind of proof that you all are living together like a couple even if you all are not one.
