Good morning everyone. I’m currently in training and getting ready to start sims. Over the past week there has been a lot of doom and gloom about the future. Can anyone shed some light in a rational manner as to the timeline that I’ll be looking at for OE if I’m on the 200 and a realistic expectation to flying hours while on reserve and the amount of time before getting off of reserve in NYC. Thanks.

Ignore the two or three doom and gloomers on this forum. Endeavor is a good place to work, and youre on the front end of some planned 2019 growth. You'll find the line culture doesn't reflect the APC forums.

As far as hours flown, it’s very low. Maybe 20 tops a month if you’re lucky. Best approach is to drop reserve if the grid is green and pickup open time. Or just pickup open time if you live in base... I hope you do. Crew scheduling has been very reasonable in releasing reserves early. So you might be commute home at 3 pm on your last day instead of 7 pm. My biggest concern for you is that you’ll probably be sitting 10 ready reserve days a month since not many people are coming in below you... it’s basically the most junior 10-15 or so people that sit all the ready reserve in NYC within each fleet. When we were hiring tons it was no issue.
Also another big concern is that all the 200 lineholders in nyc are somewhat junior late 2017/ early 2018 hires. They’re seat locked to the 200 for 18 months, not upgrading anytime soon, and because of this there will be no attrition from the lineholding side like there is on the 900 (more late 2016/early 2017 hires on that). Other bases are like this too due to the exodus from the 200 in late 2017 before the seat lock came into existence. I think you will be sitting reserve for about 12 months... best base for movement on the 200 will be Atl I suppose.

Part of the reason Endeavor has been a good place to work was the good movement we have enjoyed since 2015. It will be very telling to see what happens to morale now that the music has stopped for awhile. The juniority of 200 fo lineholders is particularly troubling since they’re seat locked. I don’t see some of the 200 hires in training right now having lines until at least December of next year unless 200s get pulled out of the desert... things are probably much better for someone at bottom of 900 list.

Thanks guys, for the taking the time to reply. Although the information is helpful, it doesn’t give me a good feeling about my QOL in the foreseeable future. I will be commuting to NYC from North Florida. I came over to the 121 world to build time quickly in hopes to upgrade and build turbine PIC as quick as possible. I chose Endeavor and the 200 in hopes of flying more and getting to ATL as quick as possible, now it seems like that isn’t even on the horizon at this point. I have been happy with Endeavor so far, for the most part everything has been professional and squared away. However, the idea of commuting to NYC to sit reserve for the foreseeable future just to maybe eke out 20 hours a month, makes me think that I should look elsewhere, even if the pay and commuting policy isn’t as awesome as Endeavor.
