Has anyone noticed recently that there's a new "Block Time Details" tab on the Flight Ops section of the company website? It shows your recent block times. Pretty nifty I'd say.

Default No surprise

Propel up and running, application windows open and still nothing out about dgi. Wonder how long before we get an update on those career progression “negotiations” or anything on the program in place that hasn’t taken anyone.

Thanks. If it is not the approaching mandatory retirement, I am wondering what is mostly keeping pilots as lifers. Yes, I know the long standard list. Yes, I know there are a variety of reasons. What one or two predominate? Any gut feel?

As retirements in the majors skyrockets and is sustained, I wonder will that pry a significant amount of the lifers out of their warm secure seats?

It’s half the fact that major airlines unfortunately blackball many guys for being too “overqualified” and “untrainable,” but for better reasons, many of these guys are comfortable where they are. Some make very good money in management, sim instruction or as check airmen. Others enjoy a very good schedule and are based at home, already making $120k+ a year. If you only have 15-20 years left it doesn’t always make sense to leave, and this company is run well enough where guys are happy.

More than 10k hours takes points off your application score at Delta. It doesn’t “blackball” you.

Points off an app in a stack of perfect apps is pretty much a blackball.

It's Delta's ball. They get to make the rules of the game, but let's not try to lipstick the pig here. Experienced pilots are getting the shaft.

This goes to the broader point that they don’t only look at flight time. It’s all but a certainty that these high time pilots lack other important things on their resume. Or they half-ass the application and it’s riddled with errors and omissions.

In the end, the high time isn’t the only thing that’s a deal killer just like so many other things on an application.

There's also a very large number of pilots here who simply can't be bothered to fill out and app and update times monthly.

We have a lot of lifer captains that couldn't stomach being back in the FO seat at any price. We also have a lot of guys that just won't give up 4 summer weeks of vacation and weekends off.

I was the first person hired by Delta post 2001. I had a 2.7 GPA... hardly perfect!
