Mass exodus of NYC 900 FOs too and unlike other vacancies not too many came from other bases to NYC. From 0 primary vacancies to 84 secondaries.

There were about 10 primary vacancies and it looks like about 20 secondary vacancies from people going back to NYC or DTW as FOs or upgrading. There are not 25 900 slots available for new hires...they are already filled with pilots who have been on property about 6 months. just want to make sure those reading this page who don’t already work here re not confused. It takes about 6 months to get 900 ATL.

Anyways, it Looks like our FOs on property finally decided to upgrade and filled all available slots. Maybe it was the reduced minimums (950 121 hours) to get the award. Looks like the days of instant upgrade here are quickly behind us. With a large number of pilots hired in 2016 and 2017 I’m not sure that upgrade time will go back down. I expect it to stabilize at somewhere around 18 months unless we get a large amount of additional growth.

Was wondering if anybody could enlighten me. I bid for DTW900 FO and didn't get it on the vacancy even though several people behind me in seniority did. Would it be because I am a 200 FO and the others were 900 so there is no retraining necessary? just curious. Thanks

What is your DOH? There is a 18 month seatlock for FOs, prorated from DOH. Hired in March, 18 months from now, a year ago March (2017), have to wait six more months.

They probably switched on 17-05 before that seat lock went into place

Yup, you needed to switch planes no matter what base on that award or you are locked until your past 18 months here. If they were on the plane already, they can change bases on that same plane, you can't because you'd have to change planes. You could bid that base but have to be able to go on the same plane you are currently on unless you can hold it as an upgrade to captain. No lock to upgrading.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess I missed that that seatlock was retroactive.

No worries. Four folks ahead of me on the 200 are leaving so I'm moving on up.....at least until the next round of TDYs push me back down
