I think here's what pilots should do. Block out as close to ontime as possible. Within 5 minutes. Then, fly the speed the flight plan says, manage fuel along the way, check weather, monitor aircraft systems, be safe using known methods like TEM, be ready for the descend via clearance and comply with ATC instructions. Let the bean counters worry about the other crap. In other words, don't change anything. Not our problem to be tail routers and pax coordinaters. eff that ess.

Although if you just said the company paid for a ticket home instead of using the word "deadhead" in there I could see that too. The DL term is "deviating" but if the word "deadhead" was in there he should have figured it out.

FO here.. I was assigned a 3 day trip with 20 hour notice to start on my second day of LCR. Day 5 of 6, they have added flying to finish on day 6. So it ended up being a 4 day. Not a bad start

Reserve in ATL (home but I would be the plug)
Line in NYC.
Knowing that it is almost impossible to drop a reserve day, would you take the bottom reserve slot or hold a line in NYC (close to the bottom, but still a line)
What say you.
