I am a new hire going to training next month. I need 5 days off in a row in August for a family vacation that was scheduled before I interviewed. I can work any other time in August. Is this something they can work with me on? If so, when should I bring it up in training?

Not to be politically incorrect here or anything, but it seems PTSD would be a disqualifying psychological condition for a first class medical? Or maybe any medical. Especially if one needs the use of a dog. Of course this is spoken by someone completely ignorant of PTSD and degrees of it, how it's treated, etc.
The 1000 121 is only required for acting as PIC, not for upgrade, but the company and union keep calling it a "regulatory upgrade requirement." I've flown the left seat in the sim before in initial, and for that matter I wouldn't even be PIC during OE, so there's an additional 25 hours anyway. Oh well, I have enough hours now so hopefully I can get in on this supplemental captain vacancy.

Flying the jet? GTFO.

I second this. If you're in NYC on the 900 there is such a large pool of reserves there the scheduling flexibility is pretty good. You should be a mid seniority reserve pilot 5.5 months in and with 12 days off a month there is no reason you wouldn't be able to get at least 6 consecutive days off unless it was over the holidays or spring break. No pbs whiz here but I think enabling 6 consecutive days of work might help.

Seriously though, try to bid it off, maybe you get some if not all, then try to trade days with open time or someone to get more, then possibly pony up the money to someone to cover your days. Or you can be unprofessional like me and just not bid it off, unfortunately develop an illness and be smart enough to not use your travel benifits or KCM during your sickcation.
