If you're nudging people to check the hyds on the last flight of the day so you're not stuck on the FFOD in Peoria with 35% hydraulic quantity on system 2 (awfully specific, I know), then ok, but I wouldn't hold your breath to get people to admit to not doing things by the book, even though you probably know the answer to the question you asked.

If you aren’t comfortable posting what you do here, feel free to PM me. It was a legit question. And no, it has nothing to do with hyd quantity, which is something we are supposed to check after every fight, since it is on the checklist with O2 quantity.
I was asking about the LFOTD, particularly the nose wheel compartment. I’ll admit I wasn’t checking it, until it was brought to my attention that it was supposed to be checked just like the walk around before every flight (not just FFOD). I wasn’t taught that way, which makes me think others may not have been either.
Sharing such knowledge, rather than trying to get someone in trouble, can help people learn from the mistakes of others. I’d rather find out something I was neglecting on here rather than during a line check, wouldn’t you?

I do whatever the book says. If I didn't, I sure wouldn't post online that I didn't.

It’s been going on for a while. Long before the TA was announced. I was assigned it in July when i got a build up line before I upgraded. I think they use it when they need it

I will admit that I was taught that way as well. Even on IOE, my instructor made a point to say the nose wheel well and the aft equipment bay were just FFOD checks.
One day my CA did a walk-around (it was like 65, partly cloudy with a light summer breeze) and I hear him open the nose wheel well and that got me thinking. Luckily for me, I like to do a little research (if there's time) before I make myself look like a total idiot...I found in the cfm where it says FFOD for the aft equipment bay but not for the NW.
As for the last flight of the day, the CFM says to perform a complete exterior inspection, which would include the nose wheel well.
I'd say just make sure your CA knows that the hyds are on or else she might start the secure checklist and shut down the plane with the hydraulic pumps still on, or with the wheel well still open. I'm sure that's not the worst thing in the world, but the checklists are put in the order they're in for a reason.
but i could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time

You nailed it. Complete exterior inspection, which is the same as the before every flight exterior inspection, which means the nose wheel area.
It caught me off guard when the CA flipped the hydraulics back on after the shutdown. I did it like he said it cuz that's my job, then looked it up later. He was right, and I have been missing it for a while now. I wasn't taught that way in training nor on OE. Hopefully everyone else is doing it right, but as I said, I'd rather someone learn from my mistake here.
There is nothing wrong admitting when you're wrong. Or learning something you didn't know. I still find CAs who think the NW area check is FFOD only (changed in Rev 3, I'm told). Heck, I even flew with a LCA who told me O2 and HYD checks after shutdown are FFOD checks, until I showed him. We all can learn, anytime and anywhere.
Now if only the CFM could arrange the cold/dark to engine start in a logical manner. THAT would help new hires a BUNCH!

I thought you were venting in frustration about people not doing their jobs rather than actual constructive teaching. It's a good conversation (if any conversation about a normal walk around inspection can be good). To that end:

Drury is pretty cheap and not as nasty as some of the others. Westin has a Delta rate they usually let you use, which for me was the best option out there for the 1-2 times I needed it. That was years ago though.

changed in Rev 3, I'm told
-that’s what bugs me. We’re getti g constant updates to our primary documents without a list of changes published. A summary of new procedures would be very helpful no?

Quality Inn South and Country Inn and Suites also on the south side are popular. $48.70 and about $55 out the door respectively. The Quality will let you count your stays towards a free night after 10 visits. Only difference that I’ve noticed is the Country Inn has a better breakfast.
