Can some one explain how there are secondary vacancies in ATL900FO?

Exactly. Dates are 2017. Someone messed up.

Also, if going to differences with a base change, the new base takes effect as soon as differences is done?

I hope this is a valuable lesson for you. People keep saying over and over again. BID WHAT YOU WANT, not what you think you can hold.....

I had 200 on the initial vacancy, then got 900 on the final.

if you wanted the 900 over the 200 then you got what you wanted... If you didn't then you didn't bid properly. You now see why, unless you are very senior in seat (company wide) and bidding same seat in new base, the first bid tends to go relatively junior... it will then likely be more senior for a couple bids before settling out, because guys don't want to risk bidding into a position that ends up with a long time on reserve in most cases. The other thing is that the company has already announced the end of MSP 200 but didn't really start the process of that yet... There are over 100 MSP pilots that will soon have to decide where to go ( if they bother to stay at this company at all, I hear Sun Country and Delta are hiring ) What are your base choices, airplane choices and priorities? You have to basically rank and prioritize those. For those that live in a base, that should be a relatively easy task based on bidding for home first, for those that commute, it becomes a question of commutability and commuting costs, blend in your seniority and go from there.

I wasn't expecting to get the 900 after I was awarded 200 on the initial. Lesson learned. Because of that, I just got a few more months of LGA instead of being home in ATL. I'd back out of this into my initial award if I could, for sure.

I laugh at how this all works (not really) because a guy in my class, who is younger, got the 900, then bid to 200 ATL and is going to differences in Oct, while I'll be LGA until Feb with my 900 differences. oops

I get it, and this multi class bid makes things that much harder.. In my new hire days it was one class per bid and they came out every 3-4 weeks so that it was more predictable and less confusing, but the union and company agreed that today's formula is better. As for how a younger (therefor junior) got what you want tells me you didn't bid correctly. Again it is a matter of what you want not what you can hold... Unless you forced yourself into a seat lock, as the senior pilot you should go to the higher paying position first or be pay protected.

Sounds like you bid correctly, since ATL 900 is what you wanted, you just got screwed with a late class date. It happens, sorry.
