Exactly, and usually the direction the ramp tower wants you to face after being pushed back is a give away as far as what runway you'll be using. If not asking doesn't hurt either like someone else said. Most of these incidents seem like they could've been avoided with a proper briefing, and verifying that the runway, departure, and first fix.

Exactly what I meant. Look where the EV 900s go day in and day out for the next month or two. Sure, G7 and OO might get shuffled into it a bit, but you would be mostly correct to think what EV does today is what we are doing 12 months from now

Works about 70% of the time. But I have called ramp, verified a south taxi, and 10 minutes later when pushing was cleared to taxi north. Not a lot, but more than a couple of times.
RNAVs are back in service again, BTW. So simple even a DL pilot could do it!

I recommend new crews departing from ATL to ask ramp tower during preflight duties which runway is in current use for their assigned RNAV. It eliminates the guessing game and having to change the FMS and do a needless runway change procedure during an unfamiliar taxi whilst being reeled in by a 767 who's pilot has to take a sh...

9 flights out of ATL in the past few days and every single one was a push straight back, mains on line, with no indication which way we were going until I called for the taxi. Kinda late by then...

Use your Jepps Attention All Users page for RNAV SIDS. It'll tell you which runway you are going to get.
