If you live more than 1500 miles from LGA, yes.

The facility was going to be used as housing for airline crews on layovers, but that was blocked by protests from the surrounding community.

What do you call 1500 miles away from LGA? A good start!

No, It was because the conditions there were too good in comparison to the closet, err, I mean "crew room" we already have.

Why would someone work for Endeavor if they live more than 1500 miles from LGA? That's basically just the west coast.

Looking at the network planning spreadsheet and the amount DTW is shrinking for 9E and growing for OO in Sept-Oct, I'm guessing our DTW base will close within the next 12 to 18 months. Really sucks for those of us who live in the upper Midwest. Anyone who doesn't live on the east coast would be pretty foolish to come here right now.

Where are the stats for OO growing that much?? let's see the proof...there isn't room for anyone to grow much more in DTW

I doubt they will even displace people or Dtw let alone close the base. The costs associated with it are enormous and they lose it as a recruiting tool. I think they will do what they have alway done and run detroit crews through other bases. They did it when NYC 200 was opening and are doing it with Atlanta currently. Plus I think part of skywest growing in dtw is everyone is shrinking in MSP which frees them up to more dtw and us more atlanta.

These bases are running thin. We need pilots. Lots of pilots. More than we are getting now. To get pilots we need a contract and career progression. When I went through recurrent a contract was going to be passed by May. When my buddy went through it was going to be passed before July. There has been nothing but "we met, we did nothing, and we look forward to the next meeting 3 weeks from now". I hope this huge August announcement is more than "we are going to open ATL 900 and tax MSP and DTW even more to make it happen".
