Here are the clear numbers. A few bad apples make this sound a lot worse than it is at EDV. I am very happy with my job here and recommend this airline to anyone looking for experience, quality of life and money. This is one of the best regionals now hands down. Upgrade is quick, holding a line as a captain is quick. If you choose the most senior base you will be on reserve for a long while, as with any airline. 5 day trips that by contract are commutable on both sides allows for 15 days off with 15 days home even as a commuter. Also remember if you hold a line you can pick up trips in any domicile. *Also There are only 22 pilots hired between 12/08 and 10/14, so anything '08 as a line holder will be jumping to '14 or '15 line holder soon (this summer), even DTW 200 should be holing a line with '14 hires soon.

Most Jr. CA
JFK 900 12/16 Line holder last month 3/08*
JFk 200 11/16 Line holder last month 5/15
LGA 900 1/16 LIne holder last month 12/08*
LGA 200 6/16 Line holder last month 10/15
ATL 200 10/15 Lineholder will be around 5/15
DTW 200 8/15 Line holder last month 10/07*
DTW 900 1/08 Line holder last month 11/07
MSP 200 11/07 Line holder last month 10/07
MSP 900 5/07 Line holder last month 9/05

Would you be able to get DTW or MSP with under 5 years of seniority? Probably not but this company is moving people around so fast next year DTW could be the junior base again. This is mostly correct except one huge mistake....there have been zero secondaries awarded for MSP captains....ZERO. Don't expect to come here and ever be a MSP CA. There have been a few DTW secondaries awarded on both the 900 and 200...but if you look at the numbers they still shrank the overall pilot numbers as there were still a few secondaries that went unfilled.

Y'all need to stop looking at "years" of service as an indicator of our seniority list.

Block made sure of that.

I commute ATL-LGA and it can be challenging sometimes (weather delays etc.) most of the time the commute isn't that bad due to many options if you don't mind the jumpseat. I have already been awarded ATL (6 months on property) and will be holding a line there as soon as I get moved from LGA where I only sat reserve for 2 weeks after IOE. The ATL base will continue to grow and I have friends still in training that just missed getting it last vacancy notice. Expect no more than a few months in NYC if any.

One more thought regarding upgrades and all of this stagnation talk....
The 200's are all leaving NYC market for ATL. Unless there is something I'm not considering it will become the most JR 200 base for both seats = not having to upgrade yourself back to NYC, ever.

Thanks, this is very helpful. How many of those NYC -200 guys will move with the planes do you think?

I admit I am struggling to understand the bidding system. What are primary and secondary vacancies?

Thanks I think that paints a clearer picture...looks like ATL may be falling right in the middle of junior/senior? What percentage of the lines would you say are commutable? Does that go for reserve too?

So, someone with previous FAR 121 PIC time can upgrade in less than a year in NYC?

I have previous 121 and I got the last CA spot in the vacancy that went final last week. I have been here just shy of five months.

Considering the fact we have a handful of people separating 2008 and 2015 hires, exactly right.
