You're too vulnerable and disposable. Being wholly owned by Delta is a bad thing. Delta could sell you guys off to SkyWest in a year from now and then that fancy bonus is out the window...and you're now dealing with another integration/contract nightmare.
OR Delta will start playing nice with it's wholly owned. It's just never worked out well for a DCI wholly owned and we all have short memories.

I just said until the checks stop coming because they will stop coming. I didn't mention a time frame. Should have gone for a more permanent solution because those coming on board now won't see upgrade in the next 4 years. (yes we can agree to disagree but I don't believe it will happen that fast)

I don't think there is a guarantee necessarily for the retention payments. However it is an LOA which does make it legally-binding in a court of law.
The card that trumps that is the Bridge Agreement which stipulates the fleet guarantee. ALPA lawyers are convinced that is rock solid.
With all that being said - Delta has a very good legal team. If they challenged it and held up the payments, it would take a long time to see that money.

You can play the what if game for any airline. Or what if a large meteor stuck earth tomorrow? You mean to tell me that no one would get their bonus checks in April? I don't understand why you are having such a hard time letting this place go, shouldn't you have already moved on by now?
Can we all chip in and get this guy another bucket of quarters, please?

Delta has finally found something that works here, and DCI is turning mass profits. They will maintain status quo from this point forward. By spoiling the customer in the core business, Delta makes its money off the ancillary businesses. This is why they buy stuff like oil refineries, and they will continue to invest in other businesses in the future.
