Lots of ways to reduce pilot demand.

Already at my airport, 14 flights a day between AA and US on 50 sweaters became 7 flights a day on E175's.
There's only so much schedule consolidation you can do before passengers switch to a competitor with more flights. 99% of pax don't look at what kind of airplane they're booked on; all they care about is which airline has the lowest cost and most convenient (frequent) departures. Replace 3 RJ flights with 1 A320 and passengers will abandon you. The majors know this, which is a big reason (besides the B pay scale) that RJ's even exist.

There is a chance for that absolutely. We are growing the MSP 900 operation and new hires will be going into the 200 as well.

Wonderful, that retention bonus isn't apart of a contract right? Meaning would I have to sign a commitment to a year or two years like some of the other carriers?

No commitment to sign, it's an LOA attached to the contract. Now it is only for the next 4 years at the moment. It automatically gets paid out in thirds every 4 months (pro rated for a new hire) but if you leave for anywhere other than Delta, the 1/3rd you are in does not get pro rated or paid. So say you are hired in Feb, you'd get pro rated for the first third payout. You stay til mid December (leave for other than Delta), you would get all of the second third payout, but nothing for the final third.

It is a Letter of agreement signed (so therefore a part of our pilot contract.) There is no commitment required.....but basically you get it 3 times a year so basically you will only get what you stay for.

And unfortunately I disagree with the MSP out of training idea. I think it is possible to hold MSP in time, but it is definitely not down to the out of training realm. There may be a time when this is the case though in the future....but right now it is not.

I think we will know more after the next realignment award. They are saying all new hires will go to the 200 so that will mean either DTW or MSP. So I think there is a chance for new hires to get MSP. But at this point no idea other than speculation. The most junior on the list are in New York.

So any chance for new hires getting NYC anytime soon? Or -200's in MSP/DTW for the foreseeable future?

Our first waves of new hires post chpt 11 are all getting now to the bases they want for the most part. Based on that and worst case scenario, you should be able to hold any base in the system in less than a year.
