For the out of seniority SSP, it will be all in seniority at first but by mid next year they anticipate doing out of seniority SSP.
Oh, and it's "losing."

Legend, not that we are losing sleep over it, but personally, I have always wanted to go to Delta, and when I was 15, I researched them and saw Delta required a 4 year degree, so I gave up 4 years of potential seniority at 9E, to fulfill a requirement at Delta. If my life long ambition was to work for a company that didn't require the 4 year degree, then after high school I would have focused more on my flying experience and qualifications for that company, instead of busting my a%$ in calculus, Biology II, and 18th century literature, which was required for my 4 year degree, which is required by Delta.

Just at the right place at the right time when I signed in this morning. Since it was being discussed here and a number of friends have asked, I got a few questions answered.

Any other interesting tidbits? More than 300?

Thanks 80. As it should be... Glad to know those who took 4 years of their lives and worked hard to meet a specific Delta requirement will not have done it in vain.

An agreement was made by our union and Delta management to allow this. If I don't get hired I will continue as I have and finish it regardless that its a requirement. There are always waivers, exceptions and side agreements that occur and will always happen in our industry. Some get upset because they had to have 2500 TT back in the day to fly a Jet stream and then you could be 21 w/ 289hrs and get the same job. Before the bridges! Daddy's little girl with 1500 hrs TT and a degree gets preferential treatment, when some needed 8000+ to be competitive, military etc. Yes they met the requirement but wasn't competitive which is what normally drives it.
So why is it so difficult to swallow? Because you meet that part of the requirements and someone else gets it without? Or you had to have it when you got hired so there should be no exceptions to this rule? There will always be exceptions!!!!
That's life! If it doesn't work out that's life too!

Delta got rid of all the mangers from NWA that didn't have degrees, even if they were good managers. Furthermore, DAL would likely fire every pilot that didn't have a degree if the pilots suddenly became non-union. The 4 year degree is a cultural thing there, that's why there is such an out-cry over it.

An agreement was made and maybe(most likely) because Delta wanted us to pass the TA so they gave us a carrot. Wouldn't be the first time they did this and not follow through with it. Only time will tell.
