Tipping van drivers who do extra makes sense. What's extra?

Hotel van/shuttle drivers are often paid below minimum wage. It's completely legal. It is customary to tip a minimum of $1 per piece of luggage that they handle.

If hotel drivers are paid less than minimum wage it is not the responsibility of the hotel customer to subsidize this. If people stop taking those jobs they will raise the compensation. Tipping in this country is out of control. Tipping is a gesture of appreciation for service above and beyond the ordinary. There should not be a system in place where a minimum tip is expected.

I do tip on the average of 6 bucks a week. Times that by 48, that's 288.00 a year I could put in my kids college fund. But after a long hot day and the van is waiting for you with the air conditioning on, the buck tip seems rather small.

When you're a regional FO $288 is almost a week's pay. I understand your perspective but it's their job to be there with the AC or heat running. If they're not there right away do you not tip?

Most.
$23hr x 75 hours = $1725

$1725/4 = $431

$431 after taxes is about $300

Well, the accusation was more that you seemed to have claimed that a CA allowed you to perform an abnormal landing. Of course, I can't prove it. So it clearly didn't happen. Just not a good idea to post that kind of stuff on a forum specifically monitored by manglement and with names next to it. So you probably didn't.

You should really drop the SLI hate though. We don't need that crap here anymore.
