You probably couldn't handle the 200 anyways...yeah it's best you stay on the heavy in NYC and enjoy life there.

I think he said why the QOL might be a bit different in his case... he would be incurring a 24 month seat lock. Although, if what you want is the base location or airplane, take it the first time it is available- you never know how long it will take to hold it in your preferred position (900/200, Line/Reserve).

But there are a lot of people here who have no idea WHY the 900 is “better” than the 200, only that the 900 is “better”. Yeah the 200 doesn’t climb, and it can do 5 legs a day - but you can hold a better schedule, quicker, on the 200 and switch to the 900 (if you desire) when you can hold what you want. For people making the decision on 200 or 900 coming in, Is it really worth it to be on reserve for atleast 2 more months to have the second FMS and overnight in DSM and ORD (for the first year there is no pay difference)?

I thought QOL was always determined by the size of your “equipment”...

Ah the classic 200 v 900 contest. Fly whatever the hell you want and stop justifying it to everybody else. I've flown both and switched to the 900 for better QOL as a senior FO, but for quite a while the 200 was better in that respect. Just enjoy the schedule, they're the same jet.

Sure, but an FO who is locked after doing 900 to 200 FO isn't locked from upgrading, which is probably the only thing that matters in terms of being locked.

YES!!! More efficient schedules equals more days off, less MX issues, and about 2 dozen other reasons.

And worse seniority means working on Christmas, thanksgiving, birthdays, weddings, weekends, and other important days (cause no mater how obscure the reason you want one particular day off- everyone else also wants that day off). How valuable are those extra 2 days off when you have to work on the weekend or spend Christmas in Rochester. I’m not getting into a ****inng match about which airplane is better (yeah we know the Nine is God’s gift to EDV, and yes I’m bidding for it) I’m just saying the’re tradeoffs, and a new person would probably have better QOL on the 200 for the first year at EDV - but someone needs to fly the shiny jet.

Since June, almost every single new hire has been given the 9. There is almost no new flow into the 2. It sucks. As someone on the bottom of the 2 list... It sucks.

I had all those days off my first year and I was a spring hire on 900. To each his own but with pending new hire equipment freeze i would bid what you want
