I dunno how it works, exactly. I just looked at the top right of the initial 17-04 where it says "available to new hires." And there were no ATL on this one available to new hires.

Out of this vacancy, there are 3 ATL200 spots available to new hires.... no idea when or if they will be allocated by crew planning, but it looks like a couple very senior people in new hire class will be able to get Atl 200 in indoc.

With all the withdraws it looks like ATL900 FO isn't too far a reach for a new hire, though all those withdraws could easily bid it again next time (staying off reserve that way) and still keep new hires out. Of course anyone starting class this month would be that much more senior to anyone waiting for new hires to hold it... MSP and DTW captain once again are going to be for the 10+ crowd... ATL 900 captain went about 300 numbers junior to the most junior DTW captain and over 500 junior to the couple guys that managed to get MSP 900. I expect as ATL continues to grow it will see another junior round then some senior guys jumping in with their better schedules assured, then anyone that wants it will have it... That's how it tends to go with new bases.

I'd guess that things will shift to be 900 heavy now that it's the "growing" fleet and more so I expect to soon see a reduction in 200 positons based on the closing of the MSP 200 base soon. But where new hires are needed and where current pilots are willing to go to... who knows other than there are continuing shifts to what was our traditional operations and future ones.
