I commute from FLL. LGA or JFK is much much easier than ATL. Simply because Delta, JetBlue, Spirit, and Virgin America all run flights all day long. Been in JFK since beginning of year and haven't had to spend a night in NYC for a mis-commute.

Delta commuting to ATL is non-existent due to main line non-revs.

This is what I most terrified of. I live in Atlanta. It's why I came to Endeavor. Getting back and forth to LGA is going to suck.

He is a middle aged career changer that wanted to get out of a cubicle and was hired by us.
Captain upgrade fail rate is 55% right now. Multiple instructors mentioned that.

I do a lot of seat support and that is indeed true. FYI, it’s taking some guys 3rd times a charm to succeed. Also, for those venturing to upgrade. You get two shots, then you decide to go back to your previous position or the third time failure is termination.

Ive heard a lot of failures from “soft skills” by talkin with fresh upgrades in the sim center. Everything we were taught in initial we need to know 100% walking into the upgrade because now we apply it, no time to review during.

Also it’s 4 days of ground plus two sim sessions before loe.

I hope that helps some.

Decision making, communication etc. it's not for doing bad stick and rudder things but just like, making poor decisions. Like not running runway change items on a check ride. Just got through my upgrade sims the other Day and passed, it's not bad at all. I just don't see how so many people are struggling with the simple things.

Copy that. Yes it is the little things in aviation that bite us in the ass. I hope that some of my 91K, 135, and 142 type training will kick in when the opportunity arises.

BTW prex8390 Congrats on the UG.

Unfortunately this goes hand to hand with quick upgrades. A couple of years in the right seat can go a long ways for those that pay attention. One can learn a lot from both good and bad captains alike.

gojo:

Remember not everyone in your audience is a young gun. Some of us have pulled gear for several years before we made the upgrade.

Hmmm, I'm not sure where you're going with this? And I'm pretty confident in saying that those who spend some time "pulling gear" as you say, are fairing better with upgrades. Young or old, I don't care. And I didn't make any reference to age, just experience.
