Default Non Rev Public Service Announcement

Guys/Gals,

There is a pretty informative thread on Chit Chat about Non-Revs being moved to the back of the plane on flights with plenty of open seats in front.

Apparently some Red Coats/Gate agents are moving non-revs out of Economy Comfort and Business class and re-positioning them to the very back of the plane. The passengers are being told it is a weight and balance issue when apparently the goal is move the CG aft to save on fuel.

I have not experienced this yet since every flight I try to non-rev on is always oversold, but if it happens to you I would recommend that you call your Reps.

Supposedly DALPA is aware of this and is looking into it.

If there ever was a doubt about how management valued its employees...well, I guess that says it all.

Gotta make up for those billions lost on hedging I guess. Our work environment is slowly becoming toxic.

Maybe, and I hope you are correct even though I have doubts about your method of deduction - "I have not personally seen this happen, therefore it must not exist."

I doubt the company even has a mechanism to evaluate moving people around to change the CG. If they do and this is a new policy why is it not happening on every flight?

Well according to the thread it is new - so we may all see it eventually, but hopefully not. Secondly it would only matter on pretty empty flights which are rare and like I also said - I have never seen it.

I will say that I am not as optimistic as you since numerous posters seem to corroborate it.

All I am saying is that if you see it - talk to your reps about it.

Hopefully, as you insist, it is a false alarm - time will tell.

I've had it happen on Rjs and Dashes...but it was always the crew directing it...not the agent.

I've not seen it on mainline....yet

We'll see sailing. Someone called the CP office in mecca, and was told more information to follow on Monday. I guess we'll find out more then. This happened to my wife recently on the 88. I never saw this happen while flying it for 4 years. Hope it's only smoke.
