Default Negotiation Rumors

Got 2.

Flew with a Capt today who had DAL pres on board a few days ago. He came up a talked to crew during boarding, stated we would have a TA to vote on within 2 weeks, and pilots would be very pleased. Company propaganda? Guess we will have to wait and see.

Rumor two is that negotiating committee met with company today...

Seems doubtful, given all recent communications. And recent negotiations.

Management also has an interesting idea of what we should be happy with.

Why would they have not placed that offer on the table at the last mediated session?

Sounds like DAL pres on board didn't want pilots to be angry with him. So he gives some pleasantry like you stated above. Keeps him from getting stink eye in front of Diamond Elites.

I have no inside information but have become a little cynical in my old age (45) . I've been forming an opinion while reading the ALPA comm pieces and rumors and such. I believe that the Company and Union both know exactly what it will take to get a deal in front of us that we will vote in favor of.

Maybe, just maybe, the union has been sending us these emails to make us think they've been working hard and pounding on tables in front of management issuing our demands, but that management is playing hardball or unreceptive to our needs to soften us up a little.

Maybe they know we aren't going to have all of our needs met by this contract (when I say "they", I'm talking about DALPA). But if they brought it to us in June or July they know we'd send them back to work. By drawing out the process, they know some are getting antsy and want to see something, and it also provides the perception of "this is the best we are going to get", and they can start the TVM math.

Look at guys like Sinkr8. Last week he was starting a new thread every day begging for a chance to vote on anything! Just put something in front of the membership! Either he was put up to it by whatever friends he still has involved with DALPA, or the drawn out negotiations had their intended effect on him, I don't know.

My guess is, he has friends involved with the process and they told him to start cranking guys up on APC about getting a chance to vote on something. That way, when it does come out. We will all be relieved we didn't get iced by the NMB and 50.1% of us will vote yes. But I warned you, I'm cynical these days.

That's my take, take it for what you paid for it.

Our own union is paying brinksmanship with us....just my opinion.

Surely you saw the hubbub about the MEC coming together and providing enhanced redirection, right?

That would imply we have moved and they have not.

You could be right about that. SWA has significantly increased their present position since we last countered, so an upward revised position on our end makes sense.
