Just think of it this way. The company wants it, 99.9% of the time that translates into something that will not benefit the pilot group (airlines in general). The people who want this don't care about the overall QOL hit to all pilots because of the small chance it can benefit their own QOL. They fail to realize the months they can't VB home their own bid package could be alot worse in their real base because of other VBs. Which in turn could make their commute worse. This is worst case but possible IMO.

Will be interesting to see what happens ( if anything) to future class drops with the 88 flying out of LGA being restricted starting in March of next year.

The 88 will still operate from JFK and EWR, and most, if not all, of the 90s can still operate at LGA. I don't expect to see huge changes to the NYC 88 category.

Airspace redesigns up there will require an RNAV approach to 13 in the near future. Not even the GPS equipped -90's are approach certified. JFK will have a similar restriction shortly after that. Also, we only have I believe 19 GPS equipped -90's.

This info is directly from one of the technical pilots working with Boeing on the FMS/GPS and .3nm RNP certifications that I recently flew with.

I would expect significant changes to the NY category over the next year or two before the upgrades are complete. Just my thoughts.

Yeah but there are quite a few 90s without gps. I believe most of them actually don't have it.

Except when they don't and you have NYers commuting to ATL! Don't ask me how I know(still very fortunate compared to those doing the opposite)!
