Let's set this straight... No interviewee ever has had to pay for their own airfare or hotel. The company covers that. They also cover hotel during the 2 weeks of indoc.
The ONLY time you are on your own for lodging is during the initial training. It's still BS, IMO, but I drove my truck 9 hours to ATL and did a crash pad with a private room for the month. This really should be fixed, I don't care if the company "should do it on their own". Of course, pretty much everything on VA Ave is junk/borderline unsafe but still...

Actually I do watch the NFL because you know what your getting. Professional sports teams. What I don’t watch is college football because it’s a utter and complete joke. The concept of the student athlete is dead and buried. Change the rules where schools can only recruit athletes with a reasonable chance of academic success and then require actual real progress toward a degree. Award future scholarships based on graduation rate and I might come back. The highest paid person at a college should be the president of the school not the football coach.

“DL will PS the person to/from ATL for the interview, but hotel is out of pocket for the interviewee.”

Surely the end times are upon us.

Interview: Delta pays for airfare to/from ATL; interviewee pays for lodging (2 nights if you are successful).
Indoc: Delta pays for airfare to/from ATL AND lodging through indoc, roughly two weeks or so (used to be the Staybridge Suites on VA Ave. Fyi, hotel provides free breakfast, dinner and beer/wine most days of the week). They will also positive space you to/from ATL for the weekend that falls in the middle of indoc.
New Hire Dinner: Delta pays for your spouse's airfare to/from ATL. Dinner is typically during the second week of indoc so Delta is still paying for your hotel.
Post-indoc/initial aircraft training: NOW is when you're on your own. I *believe* the contract says you get PS company business travel (that you are responsible for booking yourself) to/from ATL for any break in training greater than 2 days.
