New TA rumor

Only one probationary F/O I'm aware of. No worries there. My seat-o-pants survey suggests that the majority of 50/50 Orange cockpits are established by non-participating captains. Not sure why, since left seaters are supposed to lead by example.

Other FO basically hated all things ALPA. To which, I retorted, every pilot in this cockpit hates ALPA...followed by a long laundry list of whys.
Believe it or not, that was a revelation. Orange lanyard offered with a cool little orange angry birds watch and accepted. Everything was right with the world.

Im on a wide body. Last trip, 2 orange capts 1 orange fo (me) and one non-orange fo. So, my little factfinding mission was to find out why...

Back in March I was flying to SYD with very senior captain (sn<50) who is now retired. Even though he knew he would not be here to reap the rewards and he actually lost money, he voted no last July due to the companies over reaching in the concessions.
The one that really Po'd him the most was them wanting to take their bonus money out of our PS pool first! He didn't have a lanyard at the time, but I had an extra and he was happy to wear it. I'll bet he wore it on his retirement flight a couple weeks ago.

Again very unscientific, my seat of the pants feel is maybe 1 in 3 Atl 717 captains wears orange. Even worse, most of the guys I know do not plan to picket on Friday. Hope I am way off due to small sample size. Most of the guys I know are junior and are stuck flying Friday into the weekend, which is a possible reason...
