Fellow Delta Pilots,
The pace of negotiations has accelerated in recent weeks. There are never any guarantees in negotiations, but I’m cautiously optimistic a tentative agreement is soon within reach.
The only real “capital” your negotiators bring to the bargaining table is the unity and resolve you demonstrate by showing your support for your union. Although the market for pilots is rising, the quality of the final product will ultimately rest largely upon whether management takes you seriously.
Let me be direct - it is now time for you to stand up and be counted. System-wide informational picketing is scheduled at each base for Friday, June 24, 2016. Your participation will make a difference. Likewise, if you are not working, your lack of participation will make a difference as well.
To use a football analogy, we are progressing down the field and approaching the red zone. Don’t put the entire burden on your Negotiating Committee. Let the committee know you are there to support them. The margin of victory is now up to you. Your union is designed to be a bottom up organization, but it only functions as such when you participate.
Click here to sign up for informational picketing. In the meantime, please visibly show your support by wearing your ALPA pin and your orange lanyard.
Stay informed. Stay engaged. Stay professional. Stay together. Fraternally,
Captain John Malone Delta MEC Chairman

Probably not the place to ask this question, but I will anyhow: why aren't you wearing orange? Every DL commuter and vacation flight I've been on lately has had at least one guy without, with the exception of a LAX B717 crew. I ask them why, or politley make a comment to the effect that seeing more orange would show dedication to the cause. "Not a lanyard guy, always have worn my Academy colors, doesn't make a difference, I show unity in other ways" are amongst the responses. I don't get it. In self-analysis, I realize I'm not being forceful enough. It's time for all of as to step it up a notch with badgering the orangeless! I have at least two lanyards with me to donate as needed. Sadly, my last requester was an Alaska guy who took me to work. He was on-board for max unity. Hopefully 6/24 picketing will stir up the cohesiveness within Delta pilots.
