New TA rumor

Why?
This is not an attack on you so please don't take it that way. I see guys here talk about backpacks off, I fly with guys wearing orange who are up in arms about the company, yet when push comes to shove they always seem to go the extra mile and make stuff happen above and beyond. Hell, I flew with a captain last week who helped clean the plane so we could make an on-time push. I seriously don't get it.
Until management feels pain they are unlikely to negotiate in good faith. Is flying per the FOM a status quo violation? If not, why are we shooting ourselves in the foot by making things easy on management?

Lowering ourselves to the level of management is not the way forward to a new contract. We need to continue doing the things that made Delta the #1 airline that commands a price premium. When push comes to shove doing the right thing will pay off in the end. For years, CEO Anderson bragged about labor peace to the analysts. If you think informational picketing and the fact that our demands will no longer put us "non-competitive" versus the UA and AA means that Bastien will have to find another way to justify not paying us competitive rates. Our competitors are paying much better rates than we are and we will get UA/AA plus some % (if its only 3-4% over) and the rest of the contract should contain some small gains in benefits (better vacation, better rigs, better per diem) with no loss in PS. Now, after all the contract negotiations are over if DAL wants some profit sharing back for ADDITIONAL raises I suppose that might be something worth looking at.

Then why the rush last summer? Company is free to drag this on as long as they'd like. JD Power means nothing to me. I'll take my PS and sick leave untouched.

^^^^^ I would have to agree with this, however I believe the company DOES feel they are losing, and they want to do better... They feel they are losing in the areas of sick leave, OE LCA trip pulls, and of course profit sharing... If our negotiators are willing to bargain in those area we will be getting a TA this summer. If they aren't willing to give in those areas ( and I hope they're not!) then I don't see a TA soon. Our "constructive engagement " has been a one way street for a long, long time.... Seriously, why would management agree to a TA that doesn't give them any concessions? The gravy train is still rolling along at record pace, and with pilots willing to pull as hard as ever (and to help clean the aircraft..????) They will be happy to wait. ...sincerely- BOB
