Rube,
The DB was deferred compensation in my eyes. The company dumped a pension, plain and simpl
e. PBGC is insolvent. I haven't invested poorly.
A lot of us have more time over the OM than Ed has at Delta. It's hypocritical to ask us to go above and beyond while he's cashed in $40 million in the last 3 years alone.

Originally I thought changing our December proposal was a bad idea and would result in additional unnecessary delay as the company would inevitably change their position as well.
After some reflection I believe updating the proposal every 6 months to reflect a cola type increase would be appropriate. If our out year proposal is 7%, then adding 3.5% every six months of negotiation would serve to prevent stagnation of our proposal.
My 2 cents. I await the counter argument.

You won't get better healthcare. If the company gives pilots better healthcare then the company has to absorb the cost of either giving all the other work groups the same medical option or risk unionization. (This is part of the reason it's beneficial for the pilot group if at least the F/As unionize)

All the NMB does is stall. They are useless.
You can go along or you can look for other ways.
I don't think this pilot group is in the mood to wait years and years.

I'm with you...the system is broken. In most cases it takes years and years for the NMB to even consider declaring an impasse. Meanwhile management doesn't have to worry about really negotiating. Airline labor needs a few strikes and a clear message from the NMB that stalling won't be tolerated before the pendulum is swung back a bit towards the center.
