Phuz that pilot probably didnt know you were on probation. Thats all you have to say. He or she should have approached you without being so presumptuous in the first place. Dont sweat it, you're doing the right thing right now. We'll see you on team orange once youre off probation.
While on probation, would you recommend wearing the ALPA lanyard we were given during the ALPA dinner at Indoc (black w/ red lettering), or to just stick with the blue "Delta People Care" one they gave us when they issued our IDs?

How come the FE is not silencing the gear warning horn which would come on 34,000 feet when you started your descent?
