Lanyard Policy

How? Please explain how not wearing a lanyard means I don't support my union? I guess I'm not patriotic because I don't walk around with an American flag on my shirt? If I'm walking down the concourse and you confront me for not wearing a lanyard, feel free to ask me my opinions on our contract and union, but don't assume something about me just because I'm not wearing a lanyard. I pay dues, I've volunteered with ALPA, and I attend meetings.

I hate lanyards, but I hated the TA more. I now own an orange hunting hat complete with fur lined ear flaps (I wouldn't want to catch a cold and have to verify my illness by saying I was ill prepared) for those cold February preflights. I have an orange safety vest for the walk around also. Some foreign countries require them for the ramp. Be safe out there.

Cycle,
I F'ing hate lanyards and have never worn one. I'm a clipper such as yourself. I WILL be wearing this until this is over, how ever long it takes to get a TA that WE will ratify. This is about the message to management, our co-workers, our customers, etc, that we are united behind our union. The day we get the contract we deserve and it's voted in, the lanyard goes into the drawer and I return to the pocket flap clip.

I completely see where you guys are coming from, and I read JM's memo again. I just might have to suck it up.
I just absolutely hate it when people ASSUME that because you're not following the crowd, that you might think one specific way. I don't peer pressure people to vote a certain way. I respect their opinion and move on with my life. There are going to be people out there (Yes and No voters) who may or may not wear lanyards. Let them be and respect their decision. I'd just hate to see us go down the road of getting in fist fights in jetways because a pilot's not wearing his orange lanyard (Google a story about United and hats a couple years ago in SLC). We're all professionals (with the exception of aa73 who's still obsessed with Beavis and Butthead after all these years and who doesn't wear his hat).

Malone has asked us to wear our lanyard as a show of support. Wear it Cycle. You just might like it

BTW Beavis and Butthead is funny. I've come to the conclusion that our affinity for wind checks isn't to verify that we meet our tailwind limitations ( good excuse however) but our desiree to add the proper amount of crosswind correction in a mechanical manner.
