Just searched proffer in the PWA. You are correct, that language is reserved for white slips and recovery slips on the day of.

I thought of it as a proffer if you don't answer and let it go to voicemail to screen the trip. A proffer by effect. This is perfectly legit and an effective way to get the GS you want.

Recovery slips are proffers too on the day of and may be refused. Personally I've never put a recovery slip in, but this might be useful for commuters.

Personally, I don't see how that could be of any use (from either the company's or our POV) for any sort of "blanket" slip request. For a trip-specific request (i.e., you know the report time, etc.), sure; but not for a "any trip that pops up" request....

Don't want to fly a GS? Then don't put in for one. But to put in for one with zero intent of ever flying one, just to gum up the system could be taken very dimly by the company. We've done stuff like that in the past and it tends to blow up in our faces legally.

If you really want to legally make mgmt think about widescale understaffing of categories, either put in a GSWC or bid a reserve line and then fly GS over your x-days. With the payback day feature, a reserve GS works more like a GSWC than anything. In fact I wish it were coded differently in Daily Trip Coverage for that very reason.
There is no language that prohibits us from putting in a blanket GS, FYI.

Or maybe they're like me and clip their ID to their shirt? I can't stand wearing lanyards. Doesn't mean I don't support my union and fellow pilots.

In this case, I believe that's exactly what it means.

How? Please explain how not wearing a lanyard means I don't support my union? I guess I'm not patriotic because I don't walk around with an American flag on my shirt? If I'm walking down the concourse and you confront me for not wearing a lanyard, feel free to ask me my opinions on our contract and union, but don't assume something about me just because I'm not wearing a lanyard. I pay dues, I've volunteered with ALPA, and I attend meetings.

That's classic! I completely forgot about that episode! Hopefully, I don't get beat up in the concourse!

What if I tie the lanyard to my bag? Will that make you happy, Omar? Will I then magically support my union?

Because your union has asked you to "signify your collective commitment to your Delta MEC.". Unless you are on probation, I can assume nothing else but your lack of support for JM and our negotiating committee.

Well you know what they say about the word assume, right?
