We'd usually read it there prior to hearing about it from DALPA....

We didn't hear about the company opening for zero percent raises in C2012 until after the vote! If we had heard that part first, no way it ever would have passed!
We did get the openers at NWA Timbo. Both sides' openers. I know that doesn't matter because we're all Delta now and Delta doesn't do it that way. Just giving the history.

It just amazes me how this "union" bends over backward to follow the requests of management. Why would our union want to keep the company's opening position from us? Is it because their opener was so good, DALPA doesn't want us to get too excited?

I am not opposed to the idea. By all means float the idea to your reps. However, there is never a simple "we fly the same trips as before, but get paid more" end result. Actually, that is not entirely true. Some trips indeed DO pay more today because of our ADG than they used to (ATL-LIM being just one of many, many examples; it used to pay 13.30, now it pays 15.45; ATL-UIO is an even better example).

However, were the company to agree to a 5.15 (or greater) min pay per day guarantee, you would rarely if ever see the example you gave of only one block hour on day two (but which pays 5.15); those trips would simply not be built.

In fact if we were indeed to get a lucrative min day guarantee, then you might see a decrease in commutable trips, as well as a decrease in a lot of the trips you currently see in some domestic categories where you might just fly one leg home to finish a trip. Not to say that it isn't worth pursuing, but that there is no "min day per day fairy" sprinkling extra hours into our schedule, without a change to the trip mix to make it worthwhile to the company.

OR...we can set our goal of leading on EVERYTHING. But DALPA doesn't roll with goals.

Good grief. Could you be any more apparent with your agenda of lowering expectations and aiding management?

Do you collect FPL? Or a bonus from management? Or both?

But it would be nice to hit a hole in one for a change. I'm tired of pars and bogeys.

Well I WISH we could see their opener, but as one former MEC Chairman said to me when I asked him why so many guys were so willing to pizz away their career:

"What did you think that rocking chair was for?".

JMO

Starting to feel like management has created a deadline. Always something artificial to create fear.

"This sale ends Saturday and there will never be another one. Ever."

"We have leverage, but it only lasts so long. We need to wrap this up!"

Here and on the line, the universal sentiment of the line pilots is, wind the watch. We are in no hurry whatsoever. Slow and steady.

This is the best negotiating environment we will ever have. Let's repair the damage and get the PWA we deserve.

IMO management wants to throw just enough money in the pot for a yes vote while gutting sick leave, adding mandatory min month and eliminating first officers bidding with LCAs.

Managment wants to rush us so there are no gains in vacation, min day, training day, etc.

Our leader promised not to rush C2012 then did exactly that. Management played him for a fool. They kept him on their path start to finish.

Make your voice heard.

No one knows better than we do not to rush. The result of rushing is never pretty.

I wish we could get our association to strive for an actual minimum day instead of this ADG......

Talk to your reps.

I went to the Atlanta lounge visit before direction was given to the NC and told the DALPA guys that improved rigs were my number one priority. They told me straight up they don't hear this from many pilots.

My opinion: Delta guys are more focused on rates than rigs. We either fly long haul, or think we will soon (which is largely true).

The move to ADG while giving up the duty period rig in the FAR 117 negotiations has resulted in some particularly onerous rotations. Flying at night is part of this job, but the repeated circadian shifts in many of these rotations is eye opening. Ironic that this change occurred as a part of our adaptation to FAR 117.

As far as Herkflyer's comments, it is possible to prevent a company end around work rule improvements. We need more than just one rig (ADG). A min day plus a duty period rig with the contractual requirement to pay the greater of the two.

I have personally called and have written all of my reps, as well as filled out the contract survey so I would say I have communicated my opinion.....

Excellent! Apologies if that came off wrong.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that's noticed these rotations.
