If you think we have a "horrible" vacation system (outside of internet la-la land anonymous whining) then you just don't understand all the great things that you can do with it (vacation slide, vacation any, purchase more vacation days, bid reserve in a vacation month, then Rolling Thunder, etc).

Horrible vacation? Really? In November, the ALV (and res guarantee) in my category is 72. I will bid reserve with 9 days of vacation. I'll be "on call" for 12, and get paid 79:39. Yeah, it really really sucks.

When vacation value goes to 5:15, call me. Still won't be as good as SWA but at least we will be in the same zip code.

You assume a pilot is senior under the FDX system. A junior guy can get hosed!

Who is working to FARs? Certainly not me or any number of guys I have met. I rather like our vacation system as well--though we need more pay per day.

Yeah, you're right. Everything about SWA is better. I shoulda paid for a type rating and gone to work there. I'd be a 737 captain by now.

And that kind of a trade would screw anyone who was trying to drop a high time trip, if it meant their line would go below a certain value.
While on the surface, a 6hr. min day in trades sounds great, and it would work for the domestic trips, most of our 8+ hour International legs won't benefit by a 6hr. min day, but WILL be affected if you have a 30-45+ hour international trip on your 80hr. line and you want to drop it, to pick up something else, or just get some time off.
Beware of what you ask for, you might get it!
Perhaps there should be a different rules for International trips vs. domestic trips, when it comes to min line value, min hrs./day, etc.?
And then there's the whole Green Slip game too...drop all your trips, and only pick up greenslips, double your line value in an understaffed category? Maybe that's what they are really after?

I think this discussion is moot anyway since gzsg has provided no evidence that the company wants a minimum line value and it wasn't on DALPA's radar enough to include it on the survey.
