What is it about that place? Just seeing that picture makes me depressed. I don't understand why it is that way for me. I've never had any trouble or difficulty there, but it gives me dread.

The trips on the 75/76 are way better, and actually on reserve you'll fly better trips than a junior lineholder. Pretty much true system wide, the bottom lineholders get the worst trips and can't get rid of them. You'll be somewhat less abused on the bottom of the ER. If you can pull up some schedules, check the bottom few guys in each category, look at the trips they are assigned and the # days worked.

Having said all that, you should probably go to the 88. It's a matter of time before you get displaced from a piece of equipment where you're the plug. I've been displaced 4 times, the walk of shame to the training dept sux.
I was the 1st guy in my class to turn down the ER back in 07 and go to the 88. If I had to do it over again I would take the ER for the reasons listed above. The only risk is you could get displaced.

Sorry for the 20 questions here...
Assuming your new-hire seat lock is over, if you were to be displaced are you then seat locked in the displacement plane? Does your pay drop substantially during training from your previous guarantee? If you are displaced in November, but then able to hold it again in April would you have to do the entire er school again?

There's no seat lock for a mandatory displacement.

I have never broken the code on training pay during a month with a long school. I've always been surprised by either how much or how little it was. You don't have much control over pay hours during transition training. Thank you,sir may I have another?

If you are displaced involuntarily you have no seat lock on the new jet regardless of whether your new hire seat lock was over.
Your pay during training will not drop substantially. Probably not at all. It might even go up. (assuming you were on reserve)
You do not have to do school over again for an airplane you have been off for less than a year. Generally just a couple days of sims if you can demonstrate proficiency. A warm up day and a check ride. Pretty low key if you prepare. If you need a little more sim time then they will give it to you.

Thanks,
A green slip is a request to pick up extra flying at double pay.
A white slip is a request to pick up extra flying at regular pay.

The terms "green slip" and "white slip" are left over from the days before computers when the requests were submitted to the crew schedulers on actual pieces of colored paper.

Was told today that 300 is the current "approved" amount of new hires but expect that number to change to 600 upon approval. Probably happen this summer or early fall. The way it was described is it's not an if but a when. And it should continue...
