So let me ask hypothetical...if a new hire were to get 717/NYC with the hopes of getting back to ATL as soon as possible, does the proposed contract not allow for the base change until one year? I get the seat lock for aircraft, but asking specifically about moving bases.

What is the normal seat lock on an AE? Answer: 2 years. Yes new hires now have a 2 year seat lock with an exception that will allow them to get into the base they choose by bidding another aircraft if they cannot hold it in their current category or their current category is not at that base. I'd hardly consider that pulling up the ladder.

Yeah except on the initial assignment you are at the sole discretion of the drop and your last 4 of your social. Whereas on the AE it's 100% your choice. Comparing apples to oranges. However if year two pay was the same across all fleets then it's not so much an argument

Military New Hires
Of the branches of service, how many of the Delta new hires have come from the Army? I had heard earlier that Delta had not hired a single FW Army pilot in the last year. The pilot I flew with yesterday told me it has been over three years.
Anyone confirm the rumor or know of any Army pilots being hired by Delta? United is hiring a lot of Army FW pilots along with Southwest, Jet Blue, UPS, and a myriad of regional/cargo carriers.
Thanks in advance!

I just disagreed with the "thrown under the bus" comparison. Thought it was a little harsh. It's been rectified. By the way thanks for that Falcon20.

You are right, hence the exception to change bases and at least get you where you want to be (and possibly move aircraft too). As far as what airplane you get and where it is when you get hired, ya gotta start somewhere. I spent a few months down in New Orleans...

these new TA rates for 1st year pay are marginally higher (a few dollars) than UA, which won't really be when the snap up happens, but UA pays 90 hours a month while in training, covers hotels, and uniforms. so when this TA passes and we pay our new hires in training $4,600 and make them pay for uniforms and hotels, united today pays theirs $7,110 and covers hotels and uniforms; $5 more than American which also covers hotels. So with 'total compensation' we are dead last among the big 3 by a large margin for new hires.
