Delta posted a memo on Friday that the hiring number is still 300 but they soon expect corporate approval to increase that number. This is the first "official" posting of this information and is a great news for all the OTS candidates.

And, if you can locate your dot, count the dots to the left of it that are your age and younger, you will find your projected # at an age 65 retirement. (Health permitting.)

See how wide the new hire age spread is now, vs. 25+ years ago?

It looks like it's age 27 to 62 today, vs. only about a 10-15yr. spread back then (24-40ish).

Then go to the left side, start at the age 55 line and follow it across to about the 4,000 mark below.

All those dots above the 55 line are retirements in the next 10 years.

These charts are absolutely fascinating. Thanks to whomever is generating the data.

What (# of years, etc.) earns you a retirement from Delta? What does it look like?

From mikefromMT's spreadsheet, Delta needs to train roughly 40 pilots per month to deplete the Mesaba, Endeavour, and compass pools by September per Mr. Krabie's recent email (assmuing no further OTS training other than those who have already started).
Assume that happens, and the additional hiring happens, and the training rate stays at 40 per month, then 160 additional OTS poolies should start training by the end of 2014.
March class sizes should be telling.

Found my dot. Can't decide if it's 5 or 6 dots to the left of mine that are younger. One dot is borderline. I'm never going to be number 1.
