FWIW, there were zero vacancies on the 7ERB in SEA on the last AE, but 13 FO's moved into the position. So they certainly back-filled that position. I'm not sure if that's what you were referring to. Many that bid that position had no chance of holding it and suddenly got it. So, miracles happen. Glad to be moving to the west coast!

Also, if you're wondering about Msp at all, the 320 had guys from Jan 2016 moving this AE from NYC. That's fantastic. The most senior airplane right now there is now the md88, believe it or not. Still looking like a year or less to get to Msp on both A320 & 88's. Hopefully the movement continues!

I use the Telex 850 and bought it with the Airbus connection. I'll have to get an adapter if I leave the Airbus which is not gonna happen (DELTA, Don't Ever Leave The Airbus ). Quite a few guys have the 850. I'd say most just use the company supplied Telex. I've only flown with a couple of guys that use the Bose.

If you do use your own headset, don't be a douche and keep the aircraft one rolled up when you leave the jet for the next crew. It's annoying.

To add, do the cbt's to get familiar, but spend the bulk of your time on the LOD. You'll get a couple days when you get to training for LOD/systems review and questions.
With respect to af training, I felt DAL was extremely similar to the layout, but without the extra time for going to Charlie's and playing golf 4 days a week (ref: Altus). If you do what you did to succeed in mil training you'll be fine here. For each sim, study like you did for mil formal training and then listen listen listen during the event. Study what they tell you to study after each event, because that is what they are telling you you need to work on.
In general, systems knowledge is nowhere near AF levels, and they know that. They trimmed the program to save money and expect you to get the important things for training and fine tune and keep learning as you go. You don't end up leaving Atl feeling overly confident, but you're at least natops qual level. Good luck, have fun, and don't sweat too much now.

We use the building block approach to systems knowledge these days....by your 2nd or 3rd recurrent, you'll have a very solid foundation of systems knowledge.

Something I didn't catch when I geeked out on this a few days ago, was that there were 13 NYC765 F/O's that bid off, but only 11 that were awarded the category. The most junior NYC765B award was a March 2015 hire, from the last class that wasn't still in their one year seat lock. That means there are potentially NYC767-400 F/O's vacancies that are available to new hires. Not that this will happen, but that would be a pretty cool class to be in if those popped up.
