Everyone, both CP management and CP pilots, would prefer no hold back. Compass is going to release pilots as soon as feasibly possible. It is expensive for Compass to hold back, yet they have an obligation to staff their operation. Delta throws out class dates, and Compass gives them the yeah or neigh on whether or not they can fill those classes. Perhaps if the Feb 3 guys only get a 45 day hold, they could wind up with a mid March class date? Though Delta has not looked like they are interested in putting many more than 30 bodies in class per month so far.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. The Feb 3 class break down was for 29 (20CP + 9XJ flows), and only the 9 were physically in class. With Delta only hiring at 30 per month right now. The second class with all off the street guys in mid Feb are basically making up for the Compass pilots that were not released to Delta.

No, not sure if it means anything but sounds like not everyone got the email. Maybe they are releasing only a portion of the first 20? Or maybe they are still sending emails.

In the case here moving up the projected release of up to 20 some Captains by 15 days means the replacements have been trained. The "new" Captains may just be completing training, however the 20 new hires that replaced the upgrading FOs were hired back in late July / early August. The replacement Captains were either for a Nov 1 or Dec 1 bid award as well, so throw in 3 or 4 months of them at Captain pay. 20 Captains is almost 10% of the normal Compass Captain list. The last seniority list shows 100 new hires since this whole process started last July, granted 40-50 of these were probably needed to cover 117. Compass will release these pilots as soon as possible to avoid as much overlap in pay as they can. Moving up the release of 20 Captains by 15 days, just saved the company about $60k. That's decent coin for a company this small.
