I'm tracking 36 off the street confirmed and possibly one off the street still to be filled plus the flows which are predicted at 6 for a total class size of at least 42-43. We should know more as the last emails go out and folks chime in...

That's a good start for the year. 70+ for January is better than December's 20.

[QUOTE=Galaxydriver;2029102]Because a 5yr 737 FO will make the same as the 5yr 190 CA. And 5 yr 320, 88 or 717 FO not much less.
Agreed it doesn't make sense for 320 and higher. But what about the guys who have finished year one seat lock in a 717 or 88? That would be a significant pay raise to go to the left seat of a 190.

I believe a seat lock is broken on your first CA award. I also don't think the company wants new hires/first year guys/gals in the left seat regardless of their experience. I am sure they will come to ALPA to re-negotiate the 190 pay rates but will want something in return in TA2.

You are not prevented from becoming a captain because of a seat lock but they are added together to form your new seat lock. If you were on a two year freeze and then immediately upgraded you'd now have a 4 year freeze for example (I know that is an unlikely scenario)...
Also, if they open a new category (defined as being 60 days or less old) the same deal applies. You can go to any new category even if you have a freeze but you will incur an additional freeze to be added to your current freeze. I've met quite a few pilots that say "there is no freeze for a new category" and that is sort of true. A freeze will not prevent you from going to a new category, but it will add a freeze to your current one and you will incur a two year freeze if you currently don't have one.
Just FYI for anyone who cares, the only way to not get a freeze is if you are MD'd. A VD will also give you a freeze but you'll at least the the paid move that an MD would have given you.
